Considering the situation in the world today, Wolfgang’s Terrorism and the Internet EOTO post is an excellent topic that I believe many of us can relate to.
The webhosting company BurstNet referenced in America’s Voices was said to have shutdown the terrorist sites www.taliban-news.com and http://www.clearguidance.com/. It looks like clearguidance is still running but they did shut down http://www.azzam.com/. Apparently these sites displayed images of anti-American content and images of deceased soldiers. Of course, cnn.com posted images of Saddam’s dead sons but did it get shutdown? No. The images have since been removed from the cnn site. Obviously, the larger/big-money sites get away with more!
I do believe that viruses are form of virtual terrorism and can be a serious threat to any country across the world. The US State department included the recent RPC w32 virus as an advisory on their site. The recommendations Wolfgang linked from the US State Department site are good ones.
As a woman, the source cited by Wolfgang that really concerns me was Princess Taliban reference in the article from Source #3 where women can contribute by grooming their children with wartime bedtime stories reading at night. Prepping children to fight today is less of a problem than it will be tomorrow when the child becomes an adult embedded with these fundamentalist ideals
